Looking for:
- Xero change phone authenticator app - xero change phone authenticator appXero change phone authenticator app - xero change phone authenticator app. Change the device you use for MFA
Instead of allowing a transfer the apps need to be set up again with whatever software you were using them for. On the next page either use security questions or alternative email address. Security questions are a set of questions you had set when you originally set up Xero. Alternative email address will send you a code to the email address you specified when you first set up Xero Authentication. Once you have entered your details click on "Login".
Now that you are logged in - in the top right hand corner of the screen click on your initials then click on "Account". You will be asked to enter your secret questions or do an alternative email login again. Do this then click on "Disable". The first screen displayed will be a QR Code that you need to use your authenticator app to scan.
On the next page you can select from a series of secret questions - remember that these are CASE and s p a c e sensitive. These are the questions you need if you lose your phone or cant access it to be able to get into Xero. Once you have set the questions click on "Continue". The next step is Alternative email address. Note that for doing this you need to have access to that email address to verify the code that is sent to it.
We strongly recommend setting this up however if you do not have access to an alternative email you can click "Not Now". This could be done via account setting. Absolutely stupid,You have ruined a really good and easy program! I did exactly as you said. I have a new phone and I'm setting up the authenticator app.
I am looking to scan the barcode on Xero and it does not show up. I disabled Please give us a step by step instructions on how to get the QR Code!!! If it is how you suggest - disable 2SA and then enable, make it work!!
So I managed to get the QR Code with a lot of stuffing around!!! I disabled the 2SA on my computer using my alternative email address to get a verification code. I then logged on to Xero on my mobile phone and asked me to set up 2SA and it gave me the QR Code, I to a pic on my husbands phone of the QR Code, scanned the code from the photo into my Authenticator App and it worked!!! Why, why, why is it so hard. It took me ages of messing around to work this out.
Just popping back in here to give you a direct link around setting up 2SA on a new device. I can't log in, to do my invoices to get paid I have looked everywhere on site for it and some key. Can anyone please help me. If like me you reset the old phone before scanning QR code.
Log into Xero using another authentication method, i. Once your in go to account setting It will allow you to prompt a disable of the Two-step Authentication, again asking for security questions. Once you have done this you can re enable Two-step using QR code the the code appears to allow you to scan the QR code. Jason Hassell thank you for that answer!! Helped completely. Why couldn't xero have given such a simple solution to all the above people.
My account was already using 2FA. I managed to smash my old device's screen and now the screen doesn't work. I have an alternative device but despite it being linked to an account via android, the 2FA account s do not transfer automatically.
All the suggestions above assume that you can access your account because your old device isn't 'destroyed'. Bad language aside above , there seems to be no option to acquire a new QR code without having your previous device fully operation allowing access to your account. When prompted to respond to a push notification or enter a code, click Use a backup method instead.
Use your backup email or answer your security questions. A push notification can take up to 15 seconds to come through. Alternatively, on your Xero login screen click Use a backup method instead to authenticate your login using a 6-digit code or backup email address.
To fix, click Log in and try again. For security reasons, apps generate new codes every 30 seconds. Even though your authenticator app might show a space after the first three digits of the code, enter the code without the space. If you're using an app other than Xero Verify, the codes will be time-based. To ensure the time on the device your authenticator app is installed on is accurate, let your network provider automatically set the time.
Once you've entered the code and logged in to Xero, you can close the authenticator app. You don't need to delete it. You can avoid problems with time-based codes by switching to Xero Verify. It's also the only app that lets you use push notifications for quick and easy authentication in Xero.
If you use your backup email to authenticate your Xero login, you should receive an email from Xero containing a verification code. If you have trouble answering your security questions to authenticate your Xero login, try entering your answers again.
You might have entered the wrong answer. You can change your backup method to using a backup email instead. When you log in to Xero, you can select a box to skip the authenticate step for up to 30 days. The Trust this device feature is only available if you log in using an authenticator app on a device such as a smartphone or desktop computer. It isn't designed to work if you're logging in using a backup method, as these methods should only be used if you can't access your authenticator app.
The Trust this device feature is also linked to the specific computer and browser you were using when you selected the box. During setup, Xero generates a new QR code or setup key to enter into your authentication app.
